Holly MacDonald from The Happy Nest (hereafter referred to as THN) will provide advice and encouragement in the home organisation and decluttering processes. However, it is ultimately your decision to let go of items. THN accepts no responsibility for the actions you take based on our advice, whether given at the initial consultation, during the organising or decluttering process, or at any subsequent date.
THN will handle your items with care and consideration. You acknowledge that THN will not be held liable for accidental damage or loss howsoever caused.
Working Conditions
THN works in smoke-free homes only. One-to-one decluttering sessions require your concentration. It is strongly recommended, therefore, that young children, family members, pets and other sources of distraction are not present during these sessions. If you are unsure whether something or someone will be a distraction for you, please discuss this with us ahead of your session. If THN considers the working area to be inaccessible or unsafe, we reserve the right to cancel the session without refund.
THN is unable to move furniture and carry heavy items so please ensure that the area you wish to work on has good access.
In order to achieve the very best results from our service, it is essential that you are present for the initial session.
Hours of work
You will be charged for hours worked and not for the travel time, unless the site is located outside the Greater Cambridgeshire area.
Travel & Parking
If the site is located more than 10 miles from central Cambridge, the government approved mileage costs (currently 45p per mile) will be applied to your invoice. This will be confirmed before the booking is accepted. If a permit or free parking space is not available, any fees associated with parking will be charged to you.
Breaks and Refreshments
THN does not expect food or drink to be provided. If a session runs over lunchtime, we might agree to stop for a short break and you will not be charged for this.
Associations
THN is a full Member of APDO UK (The Association of Professional Declutters and Organisers) and abides by its Code of Ethics.
Confidentiality and Privacy
THN will not share client information to third parties. To safeguard THN’s own personal safety, a close family member will always know our location and have access to appointment schedules when meeting and working with clients in their own homes. This information is not shared with anyone else and is compliant with GDPR guidelines.
Photography
THN may take ‘before-and-after’ photographs for use on its website. Such photos would respect the integrity and privacy of you and your home. If you would prefer that photos are not taken, please let us know before or during the session.
Cleaning
THN is not a cleaning service. However, appropriate cleaning to support our session may be provided.
Removal of possessions
THN will happily take a small consignment of donations to the charity shop on completion of the job. THN can also advise on selling items but accepts no responsibility for this. THN will remove and transport some items for the landfill and recycling centre and will assist with recycling and donating wherever possible.
Third party products and services
THN may use various materials as part of its work with you. Inexpensive items are included in the hourly rate (refuse sacks, storage bags, labels, stationery equipment). THN may provide you with recommendations and/or website links to additional products and services from third parties. Examples include storage products and recycling services. THN cannot be held liable or responsible for any direct or consequential loss or damage resulting from the products and services it recommends.
Cancellation
A cancellation fee of a half-day session will apply if you fail to give at least 48 hours’ notice that you are unable to honour the appointment. Travel charges or further expenses paid in advance, which THN cannot obtain refunds for, will also be payable at the time of cancellation.
Payment
A deposit of 50% is required in advance of the first session. Please ensure the deposit is paid 48 hours before the session is due to start. A final invoice will be sent following the session and full payment is required within 7 days.
THN is not VAT registered at this time.
Insurance
The Happy Nest holds Public Liability and Indemnity insurance provided with Westminster Insurance. These details are provided on request of the client.
THN provides an in-home service. Whilst every care will be taken with your possessions, THN cannot be held liable for any accidental, direct or consequential loss or damage. It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate and appropriate insurance for your possessions.
